Woohoo! An Award Thingie, A RAK, and I'm an Orange!

Pin It

Happy Tuesday everyone!

Just a quick post today ... I have some stuff to share with you and then my Mojo and I are takin' a short vacation to Key West.

First, the fabulous
Allison of Stampin' When I Can, has this very kewl award she gives out every now and then. Well, I guess it's a "now" 'cuz Allison awarded me, among others, this:

Thank you, Allison!!! I think you're a rockin' blogger, too ... but you already know that!

And, lookie what the mail-person brought me:

Isn't this the cutest card ever?!? I think so, too!

The wonderful Risa of
Life's Simple Pleasures sent this to me and I {heart} it!! I'm such a huge fan of her work so it's soooo nice to have an original. And what could be better than one original Risa card? How 'bout two:

Risa also sent me this super-cute get 'whale' card ... and some paper flowers, some beautifully stamped images, and some Dew Drops, too! What a great surprise, I can't tell you how much it means to me. Thanks so much Risa; you know I {heart} you!

Finally Allison, the
undisputed Queen of all Blog Quizzes, suggested (sorta), that I take this "What Kind of Fruit Are You?" blog quiz. So, I did:

You're an Orange!

You have a zest for life, especially for anything colorful, wild, or dramatic.

You have a unique take on the world, and you're not afraid to be a little funky.

You are a bit reserved toward people who don't know you well.

You have a thick skin, which can protect you from anything that goes wrong in your life.

Once someone does get to know you, they totally "get" and appreciate you.

Your friends see you as a bright person with a refreshing take on life.

(Kinda kewl me being an "orange" since I'm literally surrounded by orange groves!)

Now, you go:

Okay, girls and boy, (hi Curt!), that is all for today ... I just wanted to share all this fun stuff with you and, more importantly, I wanted so stay well within the perimeters of Stamping Blogdom's Official Rules and Regulations, Section IV, Sub-Section: RAK's, Chapter: Public Acknowledgement, Paragraph 5.

Updated for Annapurna: Said Official Rules and Regulations, Section IV, Sub-Section: RAK's, Chapter: Public Acknowledgement, Paragraph 5 reads, "you are required to post and share your RAK's within a 30 day period, allowing additional time if receiver is ill, out of the country, or without Internet access."

Thanks so much for sharing part of your busy day with me; hope to see you tomorrow!

And thanks again, Risa: Y.K.Y.R.!!

Blog Candy Winner ... and The Yogurt Video!

Pin It

If you read Carol Burrage's blog, you've prolly already seen this video. But if you haven't, or want to watch it again 'cuz it's hysterical, well, here you go:

Okay, now that I've gotten that outta my system, (LOL - that statement is way funnier after you see the video), it's time to announce the winner of the Diva Impressions rubber stamp give-away. I went to Random.org and plugged in the number of comments (not including deleted comments), and got this:

Random Integer Generator
Here are your random numbers: 9
Timestamp: 2008-05-20 22:58:18 UTC

Comment #9 reads, "Favorite technique, huh? I'd have to say distressing. Right now everything I do needs to be distressed in one way or the other. Love the look and the process. Thanks for offering these great stamps as blog candy. You rock!," and was posted by Sheila D. Congrats to Sheila and please send me your snail mail addy so I can get your new stamps off to you! Oh! And you rock too ... almost as much as J.K.!

Thanks to all of you for visiting, comment, and posting. I have lots more of these stamps to give away ... so check back for another chance to win some time this weekend.

Finally, I quickly wanted to respond to a couple of questions I received about THIS project.

First off, the secret to creating these particular flowers is the punch:

This is called the "Mega Lily Theme Punch" ... I purchased mine some time ago and don't remember exactly where but I believe I found it online. A quick Google search indicates it's still available ...and can be purchased for around $17.00. This punch contains all the lily petals and the leaf.

I shaped my punched petals with a molding tool but a small spoon will work too. I use tweezers to curl the tips and the edges of the flowers and the leaves and a stylus to create veins. The whole shebang is created on a punched snowflake base; if you don't have a snowflake punch you can do what I do, which is I cut a snowflake die in my Cuttlebug and glue all the flowers and leaves in place on the 'fingers' of the snowflakes. And speaking of glue, you want the fastest drying, strongest hold, clear-drying glue you can find. For me, that's "The Ultimate" glue by Api.

And I think that about covers it ... if I can clarify anything for you (and that would prolly be every thing since I'm sure my explanation is as clear as mud), I'm happy to try.

Thanks so much for spending part of your busy day with me!

5 Minute Project ... How Many Colors Can You Name?

Pin It

Tonight my BFF sent me this simple test to take and I thought, "how easy is this gonna be?" Well, it turned out it's a lot harder than you'd think ... I think it has something to do with that giant timer.

So, while I assumed I could name hundreds, well ... I couldn't.

Now you go:

76
It's harder than it looks, isn't it?!?

I'll be back with some project or another tomorrow.

Thanks for spending part of your busy day with me!

~Hugs,

PS: Thanks, Rockin' Chickita! But you never did mention how many you were able to name ...

The Joy of Bloggin' ... or, I've Been Tagged

Pin It

I've been tagged by Catherine at Inksomnia ... if you really don't care to read seven little-known facts about me, (and seriously, who could blame you?), why not hustle on over to her blog and check out Catherine's amazing projects!

  1. I pitched for a Connecticut State Champion softball team for years;
  2. I am a dessert junkie! I'll skip right past filet mignon to get to the pastry cart;
  3. I am fanatical about college basketball. Go UCONN!;
  4. I am a Notary Public;
  5. I am licensed to drive a motorcycle;
  6. I'm an avid sport-fisherman; and,
  7. I went to Catholic schools w-a-y longer than necessary!

Pretty tame stuff, huh? Anyway, according to official Blogdom tag-rules, I'm supposed to share the chore love with seven other bloggers, so I tag:

  1. Lani;
  2. Kathi;
  3. Risa;
  4. Ana;
  5. Anna;
  6. Flossie; and,
  7. Allison.
Sorry ladies, but inquiring minds wanna know. However, I believe that if I don't specifically tell you that you've been tagged, you're not. And if anyone else wants to play, then consider yourself tagged!

So, today, I've been experimenting with the Cuttlebug, Fiskars texture plates, and some miscellaneous brass stencils and I've got some really neat stuph to show you!! That will have to be tomorrow though, so check back then. Better dust off all those old embossing stencils you've had for-evuh!

Thanks so much for sharing part of your busy weekend with me!
