Hello, Pretty (Old) Bird ...

Hi there ... and happy "Make Up Your Own Holiday" day. I've decided that today is "No Cooking" day at my house. So, if the DH is reading this, guess what Honey?!? No breakfast this morning! And, ummm ... no dinner tonight, either. Dang, I jess love the holidays ...

I paired this kewl patterned paper from Close to My Heart's "Perfect Day" collection with this cute l'il bird graphic I clipped from a children's book published in 1899.

These gorgeous bird-themed stamps, from Oxford Impressions, are available HERE. These stamps are beautiful, v-e-r-y affordable, and made from deeply etched red rubber. And Suzanne, the owner, is the bestest!

I added my bird-like stamped images, some vintage buttons, and popped the bird graphic up on dimensionals. Finally, I stamped "hello" on a l'il tag and attached it to the ribbon with jump rings. For all the product info, check out my supply list, below.

So, yesterday, I popped in on Sheila and discovered that Reid-the-Wild-Child had found three kittens ... and had convinced Sheila that he should keep them. The l'il devil's got talent, I'll give him that!

We peeked out the window and saw Reid playing "church" with the kittens. He had them lined up and was preaching to them. So cute!

A few minutes later, we heard the unmistakable sound of v-e-r-y unhappy kittens. We looked out and saw Reid "baptizing" the kittens in the pond.

"Stop that right now!" Sheila demanded. "You'll drown those poor kitties!"

Reid look up and without missing a beat hollered back: "They should've thought of that before they joined my church!"

How exactly does one get and keep a green bough in their heart ... and survive?!? Sounds kinda messy ... and I'll betcha the singin' birds won't be the only things to come!

I kid, it's a lovely sentiment and I lurve that distressed-lookin' font.

ONward Hoarding-Card-Makers:

Today's card project was created for Splitcoast's current (SC217) sketch challenge. For a look at the sketch I followed, and all the challenge deets, click HERE.

In order to get all three nests in, I had to create a larger card. This measures 5" x 7" and that puts me w-a-y outta my 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" comfort zone.

The nests were stamped with Chocolate Chip dye ink, then colored in with Copic markers. I used Koh-I-Noor Woodless pencils blended with Gamsol to color the eggs.

Soooo yesterday, Sheila and I went to the Library ... me to pick up books, her to drop off.

"I have a complaint!" Sheila said to the library-lady.

"Yes, ma'am?"

"Well, I borrowed a book last week and it was just terrible!"

"What was wrong with it?" asked the librarian.

"My gosh, it had way too many characters and there was no plot whatsoever!"

The librarian nodded and said, "Ahh, you must be the person who took our phone book!"

No, seriously!

Just kiddin' ... and allow me to be the first to wish you a v-e-r-y happy Cartoon Day! Lemme know what cartoon's ya'll are watching, okeedokee? I'm lookin' to widen my horizons ...

Hey, did you know that today is also "National Sponge Cake Day?" Seriously. I don't make this stuff up. In honor of the day, I'll be heading out to PublixWhereShoppingIsAPleasure for some fresh-baked sponge cake. Even if you don't enjoy this yummy treat for dessert, it's lots o'fun to play with. Just don't use it to clean your counters ... I learned that the hard way!

ONward, Hoarding Card Makers! Today's card was created using DP from BasicGrey's "Periphery" collection, a couple of my favorite old stamps, and some grosgrain ribbon. Easy-peasy-sponge-cake-squeezy!

I stamped the mesh image on Vintage Cream card stock using "Peeled Paint" Distress ink, and stamped the egg images (they're doubled-up for dimension), using "Faded Jeans" Distress ink.

I layered some patterned paper, tied on some ribbons, punched out some photo corners, added a frame hanger, and ... finis!
