One Cupcake Tree ='s One Contest and One Blog Challenge Entry

This 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" side folded card was created for eclectic Paperie's 'Hey There Cupcake' contest, and for Sharon's "Bake Off" blog challenge. This kewl new stamp set is manufactured by Stampendous! and is an eP exclusive!

The card was created on Bassill Basic card stock; all of the designer paper used here is from Basic Grey's "Two Scoops" collection. Thanks again, Cindy!!

I sketched the tree trunk on the backside of my paper and cut it out -- no need to be particularly careful here, as all trees are shaped just a bit different. Next, I used two sizes of spiral punches to create the branches. Some spirals were trimmed a bit and others were left as is.

On the backside, I used slivers of regular transparent tape to piece my branches together and adhere them to the trunk. After my branches were adhered to the back of the tree and I was happy with the layout, I used Scrap Fusion adhesive over the entire backside, then glued the tree in place on my mat.

I stamped the cupcake images on my designer paper using Palette Hybrid ink and cut them out, trimming closely. I paper-pieced my trimmed images and mounted them on ordinary round key tags ... these came from Office Depot, and added some sparkly bling! The tags, the cupcake tops, and the birds were all mounted on the card using dimensionals ... 'cuz, I love seeing shadows on my projects!

Finally, I cut a 4" wide strip using my 'Big-Cuts, Jagged Edge' scissors and applied it over the bottom edge of the mat, including the base of the 'tree' and added two felt birds to the branches.

See, I KNEW sweets grew on trees!
