A Vintage-Inspired, No-Stamping, Blog-Challenge-Entry!

Today's 5" x 7" dimensional card project was created for the "Bringing It Back" blog challenge. As always, click (then click again if you're browsing using IE), on the image for a much larger photo.

The "Bringing It Back Challenge" blog is brand-spankin' new and I just love their angle: let's create using some of that great stuff we just 'had' to have ... 4 years ago! Anything goes here, as long as it's handmade by you and falls into the challenge theme: this week's challenge is to use slide mounts in your project. Remember when they were the "must-have" item?!?

I used a vintage (1940's), slide mount here, covered in a portion of an original vintage (1919), handwritten letter. I mounted an original vintage image behind the mount and wrapped the whole thang in copper wire.

I adhered my embellished slide mount to a distressed library card pocket (another old "must-have"), and filled the pocket with a vintage calling card and a distressed shipping tag tied with walnut-ink stained lace and a scrap of grosgrain ribbon.

I created the little stick-pin by beading a corsage pin and added a cute little flower charm. I added three loops of matching ribbon to the library card pocket and layered the whole shebang on to another handwritten letter (same writer), using dimensionals.

I matted my card stock with vintage-inspired DP** from Daisy D's, then adhered my library card pocket/slide mount assemblage, and called it done!

Thanks so much for sharing part of your busy day with me!

~Hugs, Deb

**PS: If you're interested, I have dozens of sheets of patterned paper from this uber-kewl, vintage-inspired collection available in my eBay store, Kewl Stuph and Funky Junque. This collection has been discontinued and my supplies are extremely limited. And just for my blog visitors, if there's something you'd like from any discontinued Daisy D's collection, please email me. While not all Daisy D's discontinued DP's are listed, I prolly may have some available in my personal mountain stash of paper.

Ingredients: Textured Card Stock, (Cut Card Stock); Designer Paper, "Forget-Me-Not Collection" (Daisy D's); Ink, Vintage Photo, Antique Paper Distress Inks (Ranger); Walnut Ink, (Bits 'n Pieces); Corsage Pin, (Modern Romance); Flower Charm, (Nunn Designs); Grosgrain Ribbon, (Michaels); Vintage Lace, (Personal Collection); Vintage Ephemera, (Personal Collection); Copper Wire, (Unknown, found in Mt. Wire); #6 Stipple Brush, (Unknown; have had For-evuh!)

OMG......I love the look of your card Deb! The vintage look is awesome. I'm not sure what "sliders" are but they look good!

Lovely layering. I still have trouble making anything that will not go into an envelope. Love the embellishments outside too in all your photographs.
